EMVO 2026: what Steer Autos took away from the used-car industry's big day
Steer Autos exhibited at the États-Majors du Véhicule d'Occasion 2026. What used-car professionals told us about inspection, pricing and remarketing.

On 27 May 2026, the ParisLongchamp racecourse hosted the 15th États-Majors du Véhicule d'Occasion (EMVO), organised by Le Journal de l'Automobile. Close to 1,400 professionals (used-car dealers, distributors, leasers, insurers and dealer networks) spent a full day on the issues facing the used-car market.
Steer Autos was among the exhibitors. Beyond the product demos, the day was above all a chance to listen: what still slows used-car teams down every day, what they expect from a tool, and where the real friction sits in their processes.

A used-car market under pressure, looking for practical answers
The conversations confirmed a deep trend: used-car professionals work with squeezed margins, volatile residual values and stock that is harder to turn quickly. In that context every step of a car's life, from inspection to resale, becomes a profit lever that can no longer be ignored.
That is exactly what we heard on our stand: teams are not looking for one more tool, but for solutions that genuinely simplify their day and save time on tasks that are still too manual.
Three issues that came up in every conversation
Reliable inspections to secure trade-ins and resales
Inspection remains a key moment, and often a point of friction. An imprecise or poorly documented inspection exposes a dealer to disputes, unexpected depreciation or a loss of customer trust. The professionals we met were unanimous: they want inspections that are faster, more standardised and, above all, consistent from one site to another.
Pricing that keeps up with unstable residual values
With the fleet going electric and buying habits changing fast, setting the right price at the right time is now a constant exercise. Sales teams need up-to-date data and decision support rather than a fixed price grid.
Smoother remarketing that reaches the right buyer
Once a car is inspected and priced, it still has to be sold well, to a private buyer or through B2B remarketing. Here again, the data collected upstream (condition, history, photos) directly shapes how good and how fast the resale is.

The used-car market doesn't need more tools. It needs better-connected tools that make every step reliable without adding complexity for teams on the ground.
Steer Autos' conviction, confirmed in the field
These conversations echo what we build at Steer Autos: one platform that brings inspection, pricing, documentation and remarketing together, so every used-car professional has reliable data they can use straight away, from the first check to the listing.
What EMVO 2026 confirms is that trust and transparency are no longer marketing arguments: they are concrete operational expectations from distributors, networks and insurers. A well-documented inspection protects the professional as much as the final buyer.

A day of conversations, a roadmap confirmed
Beyond catching up with partners and prospects, this edition strengthened our conviction that what used-car teams need is fewer, better-connected tools, each one making a step of the process more reliable.
Thank you to Le Journal de l'Automobile for organising this 15th edition, and to every professional who came to talk with us on the stand.
