Domains

What it is for​

Domains lets you buy a custom domain for your Steer Studio website and follow its registration and renewal. Steer registers the domain, connects it to Studio and prepares the SSL certificate.

Access​

  • Menu: My website, then Buy a domain or Manage domain on the Custom domain card (/dashboard/my-website/domains).
  • Requires the Steer Studio module on your team. The purchase is paid in credits.

Steps​

  1. Open My website and click Buy a domain. The page Buy a custom domain opens.
  2. Search: type the Domain name (for example yourdealership.com) and click Search domain. The page shows if it is Available to register, Already registered, or proposes Available alternatives, with the price in credits.
  3. Registrant: fill in the registrant details (address, city, phone).
  4. Confirm: review the price and auto-renew, then confirm.
  5. Provisioning: Steer registers the domain, connects Studio and prepares SSL.
  6. Live: "Your website is live". The Your domains list shows the status and renewal date.

Good to know​

  • Statuses include Registering, DNS pending, SSL being prepared, Live, Expiring soon and Renewal failed.
  • With auto-renew on, renewal is scheduled before expiry; turn auto-renew off before that date to avoid being charged. Once the renewal window has started, turning it off does not cancel a renewal already submitted.
  • A company can have only one active custom domain.
  • Premium domains have their registrar price verified live.

Common issues​

"This company already has an active custom domain: …". Only one active domain is allowed. Manage the existing one instead.

"This quote has expired. Search again to get the current registrar price." Run the search again before confirming.

"Could not purchase this domain." Check your credit balance, then try again or choose another domain.

"Could not search this domain." Check the spelling and try again.
