Police register

What it is for

The Police register (livre de police) is the French legal register of used cars bought and sold. Each entry records the car, the seller, their ID document and the price, with numbered and tamper-checked entries.

Access

  • Menu: Documents › Police register (/dashboard/documents/police-register).
  • Requires the Documents module. The entry is shown only when the active team (or the user) is established in France, or when the country is unknown.

Steps

  1. Open Documents › Police register. The summary shows entries Draft (to complete, then validate), In stock, Exit to validate and Exited.
  2. Click New entry. Use Choose from stock to pick a car: make, model, plate, mileage and colour fill in automatically. Or Fill in the car manually.
  3. Complete the sections Car, Seller, Seller's ID document, Price and payment and Vault (files). The counter shows the required fields left; Complete jumps to the next one.
  4. Click Finish to validate the entry. It gets the next order number.
  5. When the car leaves, record the exit and validate it.
  6. Use the search ("Search a number, a plate, a VIN, a seller") and the period filter (From, To).
  7. Click Export to export the register, or Check register integrity to verify the chain of events.

Good to know

  • Drafts save automatically.
  • Files can be added to the vault once the draft is saved.
  • If you already kept a register (on paper or in other software), use Continue a previous register's numbering and enter its last number.
  • A car already in the register opens its existing entry.

Common issues

"The draft could not be saved." Click Retry; check your connection.

"Integrity chain broken at event N. Contact support." Do not edit the register further and contact Steer Autos support.

"Enter a whole positive number." The previous register's last number must be a whole number above zero.

I cannot see Police register in the menu. The register is only shown to teams established in France.
