Electronic inspection
What it is for
Electronic inspection checks a car's electronics: OBD 2 diagnosis, mileage, road test and workshop readings. The results appear in the car report.
Access
- Menu: Inspection › Electronic (
/dashboard/inspection/electronic). - Requires the Cars module on your team. The OBD 2 diagnosis and the road test need an OBD2 dongle.
Steps
Recommended order: run the OBD 2 diagnostic first, then check the mileage. The road test and workshop pairings are optional.
OBD 2 diagnosis
- Select a car, then click Run the scan on OBD 2 diagnosis.
- Plug the OBD2 connector into the car's port under the driver's side dashboard. Wait until OBD status shows Connected.
- Wait during OBD2 Scanning in progress. Do not disconnect the device.
- Read Diagnostic results: Engine status, Battery health, Diagnostic trouble codes and Emission readiness, each marked Good, To monitor or Problem.
- Later, click View the report on the card.
Mileage diagnosis
- Click Check the mileage.
- Enter the Current mileage shown on the odometer and click Save mileage.
- Read Mileage consistency: the Annual average (km / yr) compared with the car's age, and the Plausibility status.
Road test diagnosis (optional)
- Click Start the test, get your OBD2 connector ready and sit in the driver's seat.
- Follow the guided steps (for example the acceleration and braking tests) in a safe, open area.
- The analysis keeps running if you leave the page. The card shows Test done when finished.
Workshop pairings (optional)
- Click Manage devices.
- Pick a car, then fill New reading: Date of visit, Mileage at visit, Trip period to compare and the Measurements.
- Click Save reading. Past readings are listed in Saved readings.
Good to know
- The OBD 2 diagnosis includes 3 free attempts. After that, Start over costs 10 credits per scan and asks you to confirm.
- A scan may take a few minutes.
- The mileage check needs the car year; without it, the yearly average cannot be calculated.
- A workshop reading needs at least one measurement.
Common issues
"Report format not recognized". The OBD2 report did not match the expected format. Click Retry report, or retry the scan.
OBD status stays "Disconnected". Check the connector is fully plugged in under the driver's side dashboard, then click I need help if needed.
"Car year missing: the yearly average cannot be calculated." Click Complete the car details and add the year.
"Enter at least one measurement." A workshop reading cannot be saved empty: fill at least one measurement.
"The end date must be after the start date." Fix the Trip period to compare so the end comes after the start.
